Building SportsTech helps founders work through the decisions involved in building a technology business in sport.

What should you build first? Who should you build it with? How will you win customers? What can you afford? And which funding path fits the company you want to create?

These decisions shape one another. Hiring changes your runway. Pricing affects the growth you can afford. A partnership can open a market while creating new demands on your product and team.

This free publication explores those connections through practical articles, frameworks, tools and founder perspectives.

The topics include:

  • Customer discovery, market validation and product development

  • Co-founders, roles, equity, hiring and leadership

  • Positioning, sales, distribution and partnerships

  • Business models, pricing, adoption and retention

  • Cash flow, costs, financial planning and runway

  • Bootstrapping, grants, angel investment and venture capital

  • Company foundations, priorities and execution as the business grows

The aim is to help you understand your options, test assumptions and make progress on the decisions in front of you.

Who’s behind Building SportsTech?

I’m Marcos Castro, a SportsTech founder with over 18 years of experience in marketing, growth and go-to-market.

I bring my experience as a founder and operator to these topics. Alongside that, I’ll draw on the experiences of other founders and specialists to explore different parts of company building.

Today, I also work directly with SportsTech founders through GTM Sports, providing advisory, focused projects and fractional leadership around commercial growth.
